I got hacked. Well, the website got hacked. This would have been catastrophic had it not been for the lack of actual local files and passwords within my database. Luckily enough I spotted the anomalies on my website in the form of link redirects and advertisements I did not authorize. That was an immediate red flag.
I am by no means a website developer. I am however, interested in web design and technology as topics overall. Because of this I was familiar with certain terms/ideas and could research anything I was unsure or had doubts about.

I hopped in, cleared out the "bad" files, after some research and deep diving in the file directories. It was good! I had gotten out the infiltrator and have begun my reboot of greatness. Except I didn't stop there. I had to do more; every bone of my being wanted to make the website more secure than ever. Did I mention I created my website on WordPress? maybe that can add some context to the confusing rant. The security, I mentioned before; is a curated selection of WordPress plug-ins that I may or may not have a higher tier subscription. I won't get into names, but they were mainly SSL security and HSTS features that would seem like a basic must-have to most web developers.

Now back to my diving. I pushed on. Enabling and securing any aspect of my website that I could to keep potential invaders out. Except I went too far... I accidentally locked myself out access for very important files that the earlier iteration of the website needed to function.

Sure, I tried fixing it... I restored, reinstalled and deleted... It was all too much. I had decided. We must start from scratch.

From the ashes of the Larone Hurlock website has risen the improved 2.0. I look forward to posting, creating and exploring more of my online presence. Join me on this journey.
